Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”
In biblical times, A lamp like the one in this verse would look like this…
It would be lit by flame and would only give enough light to see a few feet ahead. It’s not like the flashlights that they sell on tv now that “can be seen for two nautical miles”.
A lamp gives just enough light to see the next step or two.
This is how it works with God’s voice and His word a lot of the time.
He gives us just enough direction for the next step…
And you can’t see the next step until you take the one you already know to take.
It’s easy to think we need a spotlight because we wanna see the next few years of where God is taking us.. but He gives us a lamp that only gives us just enough light for today.
I don’t know why God does it that way, I just know that with a lamp, you have to stay close to the One who’s holding it…
